Kartoffel is a German course run by the team behind Kartoffel (“we”). This page says what we store about you, why, who else processes it, and how you get it deleted. Questions: hallo@kartoffel.app.
Without an account
You can learn without signing in. Your progress (level, words, mistakes, streak, settings) is then stored only in your browser on this device. We don't see it, and clearing your browser data or pressing Reset in Settings deletes it.
With an account
When you sign in we store:
- your email address, and the name and profile photo Google shares;
We use this only to run the course for you. We don't sell it, and we don't show ads.
Who else processes your data
- Our hosting provider (Vercel) runs the website.
Cookies and storage
When you're signed in, one cookie keeps you signed in for 30 days; while you sign in with Google, a second cookie lasts ten minutes so nobody else can finish your sign-in. Your progress is kept in your browser's local storage. We use no advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it, and your rights
We keep your account data until you delete your account. You can do that yourself at any time under Profile › Delete my account: your account and everything stored with it are deleted at once, a running subscription is cancelled, and usage statistics are no longer linked to you. Invoices are kept by Paddle as tax law requires.
You can download everything Kartoffel knows about your learning under Settings › Export. You may also ask us to correct or delete your data, or to tell you what we hold, by writing to hallo@kartoffel.app. If you live in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Kartoffel is not meant for children under 13. Learners under 16 in the EU need a parent's consent to create an account.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change matters for how your data is used, we tell you in the app first.
